Elinor’s career path was laid out early. After she wrote a short biographical essay (which not surprisingly, focused on the family dog), her sixth-grade teacher told her she would be a writer. And so it came to be; Elinor got a master’s degree in journalism and worked as a professional reporter and editor for 22 years for the Associated Press, Reuters, IDG, The Industry Standard and CNET/CBS Interactive.
In 2012, she joined the Bateman Group to lead the budding content practice and help with media relations strategy. She has overseen the expansion of the Bateman Group Content Studio to include a team of full-time writers and content wizards, leads media training for clients, and serves as in-house journalistic filter for all types of communications. Elinor keeps tabs on all things security related as part of her work in the company’s burgeoning Trust practice group. She also continues to write about the tech industry and helps produce panels, parties and other influencer events on behalf of Bateman Group.
In her spare time, Elinor focuses on communications related to animal protection and rights issues and spends time with dogs.

James cut his teeth as a journalist at the Quincy Patriot Ledger newspaper south of Boston, where he bemused locals with his strange English accent while reporting on fires, traffic accidents and local politics. He then spent 20 years as a technology reporter and editor for IDG News Service in San Francisco and Paris.
James joined Bateman Group in 2016 to help evolve enterprise strategy for the content studio and media teams.With rich experience as a journalist, he identifies newsworthy angles to pitch reporters and produces a range of editorial content including thought leadership articles and blog posts.
Born in London, James graduated from Boston’s Northeastern University with a degree in history and journalism. When he’s not at work, you can often find him on his bicycle riding through the hills around Marin and Oakland.

At Bateman Group, she manages teams for clients that span both the consumer and B2B spaces including Gingko Bioworks, Invoca and Animoto. She also leads the agency’s awards program.
Sarah came to Bateman Group from MSL Group, where she conducted PR and internal communications for brands including Citibank, Heineken and QlikTech. She cut her teeth at Weber Shandwick doing media relations for Microsoft and Honeywell.
When she’s not working, you can probably find Sarah at the front row of a concert or running the streets of Brooklyn.

Previously, Elise worked at Method Communications, where she helped the Salt Lake City-based agency get its start in San Francisco, and at DKC in New York City where she worked on a range of consumer and entertainment accounts.
With an early knack for producing events, Elise jumped into event PR after college but quickly shifted her focus to media and strategic communications as she fell in love with the news cycle and the behind-the-scenes of a good story.
On the weekends, you’ll find her paying homage to her mountain roots spending time outdoors and crossing off her never ending list of Bay-Area bars and restaurants to explore.

Katrina packed her bags for Portland, Oregon, in 2015 where she currently lives with her chigi, Jojo. Shannon serves Bateman Group as the heart of its operations, ensuring the lights are on and our people are well taken care of each and every day. She oversees the day-to-day operations of the agency, including employee benefits, professional development, and agency marketing and provides support to the senior management team.
Shannon gained her agency management experience at Evans Partners, initially on the client service side and ultimately running operations, where she was instrumental in growing the agency from two employees to 20 and increasing annual billings ten-fold.
Shannon further honed her organizational, negotiation and management skills at Bridgeview Properties, where she managed complex multi-home real estate development projects in addition to raising twin sons and serving in a variety of board positions for the public schools and local charities.
Shannon has a passion for entertaining and is known among her friends for her parties.
She has a Bachelor of Arts degree in Journalism from the University of Oregon. Go Ducks.
