Fred Bateman
CEO & Founder
Fred Bateman has been in technology-focused public relations for more than 18 years. He launched the Bateman Group in 2004 and has led the firm through five years of double-digit growth by staying true to his unique vision: "to make a bigger market impact for a smaller, more select group of companies." In 2007, PR Week named Fred to its inaugural “40 Under 40” listing of PR professionals “who have achieved tremendous feats” before the age of 40. In 2008, the Bateman Group was named one of “Best Boutique Agencies to Work for” in the U.S. by The Holmes Report, a leading industry trade publication. The firm has also been recognized for exceptional employee retention. A report by research firm StevensGouldPincus on PR agency employee churn featured Fred’s “8 Rules for Achieving Zero Staff Turnover” as a best practices case study, establishing him as a thought leader among his peers.
Prior to founding the Bateman Group, Fred spent seven years with FitzGerald Communications (now an Omnicom company), most recently as a senior vice president in the firm's Silicon Valley office. A Boston native, he was tapped to open FitzGerald's San Francisco office in 1998, growing it to more than 55 professionals and $5 million in revenue in just three years.
Before joining FitzGerald, Fred was with Boston-based technology specialist Rourke & Company (acquired by Manning, Selvage & Lee in 1996). He began his career at The Weber Group of Cambridge, Mass. (now Weber/Shandwick) in 1991.
